Support for elderly persons and people with disabilities
In every stage of human life, there is a sensitive phase (old age) that requires more care and attention to live a dignified life and die faithfully and peacefully.
However, given the rapidly changing behavioral patterns and life styles, elderly people at homes face a lot of challenges including abuse, torture, not given food (quality and quantity) on time, not bathed, lack decent beddings/sleeping space and shelter, cloths not washed, not treated medically when sick, no psychosocial support and spiritual needs provided to them by their caretakers and loss of property/assets as they are taken away by family members due to poverty.
Moreover, the childless older persons are more disadvantaged in the community as they don’t have children to take care of them at the old age. Worse of it, the government do not have any social scheme for older persons neither the religious institutions.
HOW UACD HAS RESPONDED TO THE NEEDS OF THE ELDERLY PERSONS AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
Elderly people desire to live a quality life with good health, dignity, and economic independence. Being a concerned and humanitarian institution, UACD is addressing the needs of the neglected/ vulnerable older persons: widows, widowers and persons with disabilities including childless persons by giving them some financial support on monthly basis to meet their basic needs, pay their medical and treatment bills when sick (ensure health), care and affection.
Financial and material support.
-
A total of 15 (10 women & 5 men) most vulnerable elderly persons including people with disabilities and widows are receiving monthly financial assistances to complement their diet for healthy living and meet other basic need. Material assistances include soap, cloths, sandals/shoes, sanitary kits, beddings (bedsheets, sleeping mattress).
Shelter Support
-
Build shelters for the most vulnerable elderly person, widows, widowers, single childless older persons, and persons with disabilities.
This support provided by UACD has made them (vulnerable persons) live a jovial life and comfort in their own homes under the responsibility of their foster/caregivers.
However, we cannot do all these without the support of well-wishers such as the Anna & Family Foundation for vulnerable persons and many more others who have been supporting us financially making us able to change lives of some of these vulnerable older persons and people with disabilities.
You too can change a life of a most vulnerable elderly person by donating to UACD, we will make sure your donation of any amount go directly to fund our projects that are aimed to improve the livelihood of the elderly persons and persons with disabilities in the community.
