About UACD

United Agency for community Development (UACD) is national, nonprofit, nonpartisan Non-Governmental Organization [NGO] duly registered in accordance with the provisions of sections 9 and 10 of the Non-Governmental Organization Act 2016 of laws of South Sudan and issued with registration certificate number: 2,439 to freely render humanitarian and developmental services to the communities of South Sudan. Its primary objective is to ensure that, society and communities are aware of the problems affecting them, know their rights, needs, and collectively identify solutions to address all kinds of challenges facing communities and people living in poverty and other vulnerabilities.

UACD OPERATIONAL STRATEGY

UACD’s operational strategy will be a participatory approach through consultation, collaboration, and coordination with the , County Government Leaders, Community Leaders (Chiefs), Youth and Women Representatives, People with Disabilities Representative, Children, ordinary members of the communities, and other marginalized groups in the community in conducting assessments, designing, implementation, monitoring and evaluating its program projects and activities. Reports will also be shared publicly to ensure accountability and transparency.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE

The UACD target audience is purely needs-driven based on available evidence through continues participatory assessment and analysis and provide the most needed assistance to its’ beneficiaries. UACD will also follow the guiding principles of “The 5Ws" Who, What, Where, When and Why. These can be addressed under the key objective of the organization as listed above. These target audiences include the most vulnerable groups in the community: women, youth, orphans, other vulnerable children, the elderly persons, people with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, sick vulnerable persons, widows/widowers, and childless older persons.

NETWORKS AND COLLABORATIONS

UACD does a lot of Networking on multi-sectoral collaboration to achieve of some of its implemented projects. Networking is crucial for the growth of the organization as a community/public organization and personal professional growth in the humanitarian and development industry. As a non-for-profit organization, all UACD activities are closely linked to the “5Ws”.

OUR MAIN OPERATIONAL PILLARES & OBJECTIVES

Our intervention is anchored on two main pillars:

Humanitarian assistance

Development assistance.

These two pillars are strongly interlinked to ensure a transformation from vulnerability to preparedness in the face of future shocks resulting from forced (conflict) and natural/climate change/natural disaster displacement (floods, long spells of droughts, wildfire)

Humanitarian Assistance

Our Humanitarian assistance intervention is anchored to:

  • Designing of emergency response programs to address rising humanitarian crisis and needs in the communities we serve.

  • ​Initiating/designing and delivering quick impact projects (QIP) that response to the dire humanitarian needs aimed at providing basic services to improve livelihoods of the affected population especially women, children, girls and boys, the elderly, the disabled and the most vulnerable men in the community.

  • Provision of psychosocial support services to the affected population to improve their mental health and to productively participate in community initiatives.​

  • Supporting the most vulnerable and aged groups in the community with shelter and other material support.

  • Empowering vulnerable groups especially women, girls, and youths through capacity building in multiple areas including in leadership and decision-making roles in their households and the community.

Development Assistance

Peace Building and Reconciliation

Peace enriches communities and individual lives, as it directs communities to embrace diversity and support one another.

Through caring, generosity, and fairness we provide a ground for attaining a sustainable, just, meaningful, vibrant, and fulfilling personal and community life.

       At UACD, we:

  • Work in partnership with the Local authorities, Religious leaders, Traditional leaders, youth, women, people with disability, organized forces, National Security to freely dialogue to establish a tone and conducive atmosphere to reveal the moods and attitudes that affects social cohesion.

  • Promote the presence and the role of young people as positive actors of change in peacebuilding processes.

  • Strengthen the role of young people, women, elderly and children in identifying and speaking up against human rights violations, including discrimination and hate speech that disintegrates the communities of South Sudan.

  • Work to advance youth policy’s role in peacebuilding and conflict mitigation (transformation) through network of youth to secure the sustainability of peace in the war-torn South Sudan.

  • Support peace education through formation/ establishment of peace clubs in schools including in vocational schools as a tool for conflict mitigation.

Agriculture, Food Security and Livelihood

Agriculture greatly impacts the community because it’s tied to other sectors of the economy, supporting job creation and encouraging economic growth and development among the members of the community.

What we do.

  • Build the capacities of farming communities and targeted beneficiaries/farmers with modern agronomic practices and to increase productivity and yields.  

  • Promote agri-business among young population in the community.

  • Promote the production of resilient food crops (seeds multiplication)

  • Support and build the capacity of young population/youths in income generating activities. 

  • Support establishment and strengthening of community infrastructure including food processing and market linkages

  • Leverage financial and technical resource/support from donor/charity organizations, faith-based organizations, and well-wishes to revitalize destroyed agricultural activities and livelihoods including livestock.
