Protection: Gender/Gender based Violence and Child Protection

UACD approach to protection of girlchild and prevention of gender based violence. 

Facilitate reform agenda to empower women to have equal rights to participate and enjoy development benefits, access to ownership and decision over land use, own property, access to financial services, inheritance rights, and natural resources use and management in accordance with the national laws.

Enhance the use of technology in communications and information sharing for empowerment of women in all aspects that affect their well-being.

Build and strengthen the capacity of women entrepreneurs.

Support professional capacity of women to compete for employment opportunities in the formal job market.

Gender based Violence [GBV]

Create awareness on harmful social norms (practices), such as denial of girl child rights to education, early/forced girl child marriage, etc. at all levels in the community.

Support and work in partnership with key actors to strengthen the capacity of women and communities’ leaders on GBV.

Support provision/delivery of Mental health and Psychosocial Services (MHPSS) and GBV services to survivors.

Strengthen GBV case management and referral pathway.

Establish centers for MHPSS provision and management of individuals cases related to GBV.

Recruit, train and continue to strengthen the capacity of community psychosocial and mental health counsellors (services providers) in handling and managing antisocial behaviors, including GBV cases in the community at individual, household/family and social groups level.

Create platforms to mitigate all forms of violence against women and girls in the public and private spheres/life, including sexual exploitation, harassment, and other forms of violence.

Protection: (Child protection)

Develop and strengthen community structures and leadership capacity to advocate and promote protection of children's rights as natural basic human rights for all regardless of age and status.

Support the dissemination and implementation of international, regional, and national policies on the protection of children’s rights.

Create awareness on the rights of children in all aspects in the community and protection mechanisms.

Design and implement child protection (human rights) projects/activities to meet the needs of directly affected children (child-soldiers, orphans, disabled children, neglected, abused children, etc.).
